Database Administration Installation Guide
Coexisting with Earlier Versions
The version 3.0.01 server is designed to coexist with earlier versions of
the PATROL Database Administration server. If you plan to use both
versions on the same system, each version must be installed into a
different directory, must use different jobs directories, and use a unique
port number.
Starting a 2.2.0x version of the Database Administration server on a
system where a 3.0.01 version resides is no different than starting the
server normally. The executables path and jobs path associated with each
Database Administration server version are stored in the system registry.
This allows for the two versions to coexist.
Installing the Server
For Windows NT servers, Database Administration server files are
provided on CD (along with client files). Where possible, it is
recommended that you use the displayed defaults.
Note
This procedure assumes that the hard drive is C and the CD-ROM drive
is D. If you use different drives, substitute the correct letters. The use of a
CD browser is also assumed. If you choose not to use the browser, you
can start the Database Administration product’s Setup program by
double-clicking on
d:\server\nt\setup from Windows Explorer. Then,
follow steps 4 and on.
Step 1 Log in with a user name that is a member of the administrators group on
the local machine.
Step 2 Insert the Database Administration product’s CD into the client’s
CD-ROM drive.
The CD browser launches automatically.
