Database Administration Installation Guide
Starting the Database Administration Server
To start a Database Administration server type either of the following
commands at the system prompt:
patroldb run
or
patroldb start
The Database Administration server initializes and runs the server
processes. The
patroldb command reports any environment variables that
are not set properly.
Starting the Database Administration Server Processes with Host Authentication
Note
Before using this option, make sure that the access mode of the BMC
pdbauth command file is set so that it can read Unix password files. See
“Enabling User Authentication on the Server Side” on page 3-20 for
more information.
To start a Database Administration server with host authentication
enforced, type the following command at the system prompt:
patroldb -a start
By default, authentication is disabled.
Starting the Database Administration Server Processes with Debugging
To start a Database Administration server with debugging (which turns
on the DEBUG mode (BMCDEBUG) and sets
BMC_TRACE=”-mall
-fall” if unset), type the following command at the system prompt:
patroldb -D start
