Database Administration Installation Guide
PATROL SQL-Explorer
The PATROL SQL-Explorer product is an SQL analysis and tuning tool
that enables application developers and DBAs to identify and correct
performance problems that result from inefficient SQL statements and
less than optimally-defined database objects.
PATROL DB-Admin Knowledge Module
The PATROL DB-Admin Knowledge Module (PATROL DB-Admin
KM) delivers automated monitoring and management support for
PATROL DB-Change Manager. The PATROL DB-Admin KM bridges
the gap between the PATROL Application Management software and
PATROL Database Administration products, enabling you to monitor
services, jobs, and job groups across your entire network enterprise.
Installation of the PATROL KM is an optional part of the installation
process. It provides seamless integration between the PATROL
DB-Admin products and the PATROL Application Management Agent
and Console software. See the PATROL DB-Admin Knowledge Module
User Guide for more information. If you want to use the PATROL KM,
the PATROL Application Management Agent and Console software must
be installed first. See Chapter 6, “Setting up the Server for Event
Monitoring by the Knowledge Module” for more information.
Product Architecture
Each PATROL Database Administration product consists of two main
components:
the Database Administration client which is software that resides on
the user’s personal computer and runs Windows 98, Windows 95, or
Windows NT
The client provides a graphical front-end to the Database
Administration server. See Table 1-1, “Supported Client Platforms,”
on page 1-8 for a list of supported client platforms.
