Database Administration Installation Guide
Setting up the Sybase Environment
Note
See your Sybase installation guide for more information on how to set
the following variables.
Step 1 Set the SYBASE variable to the Sybase home directory.
Example
export SYBASE=/usr/sybase
Step 2 To use a default database server, set the variable DSQUERY to the
default value of the Sybase database server value.
Example
export DSQUERY=sybase_database
Step 3 At the system prompt, enter echo $PATH to verify that the directory
containing the Sybase binaries is in the
bmc user’s PATH.
Example
export PATH=$PATH:$SYBASE/bin
Step 4 Set up the Database Administration environment variables as discussed
in the section “Setting PATROL DB-Admin Environment Variables” on
page 3-7.
