BMC Software, Inc., Confidential and Proprietary Information
Installing Servers (Unix Host) 2-9
Step 10 Type y to confirm that you want to install the selected products.
Note
Typing n or pressing Ctrl+c returns you to the main menu, where you can
either restart the installation or exit.
After the selected products are installed, you are prompted whether you
want to specify a location for your port lockfiles. Lockfiles contain
information about the running servers and their current state. By default,
these files are placed in
/tmp. BMC Software recommends that you
specify a local location other than
/tmp to store these files, especially if
you periodically clean
/tmp. See “Port and Instance Lockfiles” on page
2-17 for details.
Step 11 Enter y to specify a location or n to accept the default location of /tmp. If
you enter
y, you need to specify a location for your lockfiles.
When you press the Enter key, the program returns you to the main
menu. The server installation is complete.
Step 12 Enter 3 to exit the installation or 2 to install the PATROL DB-Admin KM
(optional component). If you choose to install the PATROL DB-Admin
KM at this time, see Chapter 6, “Setting up the Server for Event
Monitoring by the Knowledge Module,” for installation instructions.
Otherwise, to configure the server, proceed to Chapter 3.
