5. To properly tighten caster journal system and
guard against flutter, perform the following
check:
A. Tip back of wheelchair to floor.
B. Pivot both forks and casters to top of their
arc simultaneously.
C. Let casters drop to bottom of arc (wheels
should swing once to one-side, then im-
mediately rest in a straight downward po-
sition).
D. Adjust locknuts according to freedom of
caster swing.
6. Test wheelchair for maneuverability.
7. Readjust locknuts if necessary and repeat
STEPS 5 and 6 until correct.
8. Snap black dust covers over the locknut and
stem.
Replacing
1. Remove the black dust cover.
2. Remove locknut and plastic washer.
3. Drop the front caster/fork assembly out of the
caster head tube.
4. Slide in the new six or eight-inch caster/fork as-
sembly.
5. Reassemble by reversing STEPS 1 - 3.

in this section of the manual to properly tighten
caster journal system to guard against caster
flutter.
REPLACING/REPAIRING CASTER TIRE/
TUBE
WARNING
Replacement of front caster tire or tube MUST
be performed by an authorized Invacare dealer
or qualified technician.
CAUTION
As with any vehicle, the wheels and tires should
be checked periodically for cracks and wear,
and should be replaced.

3. Push the stem up through the caster head tube.
4. Install large plastic washer and secure with locknut.

1. Remove the front casters from the accessory carton.
2. Unscrew the locknut from the stem of the wheel/fork
assembly.
