13.TROUBLESHOOTING
TheTeledyneAnalyticalInstrumentsoxygentransmitterhasprovedanextremelyreliableinstrument.
Thetroubleshootingguidehereisbasedonananalysisofthepotentialproblemthatmayoccurafter
manyyears of operationin the field. Acurrent list ofproblems and solutionscan be foundon the
TeledyneAnalyticalInstrumentswebsiteatwww.teledyne‐ai.comwhenanyareidentified.
13.1FIRSTAPPROACH
Theprobewillnotheatup.
Turnthepoweroff, removeandcheck2 x20mmglassfuses. Ifeitherofthem isblown,checkthe
probeheaterresistancebetweenthetwowhitewiresthatcomefromtheprobe.Itshouldbe110+/‐
15ohms,andbothwiresshouldbeopencircuittoearth.Ifnot,replacetheprobe.
Isthe‘B’shownonthebottomlefthandcornerofthedisplay?Ifnot,checkthattheburnerisenabled
with either a link between terminals 10&11, BURNER INPUT, or is enabled witha connectionto a
voltage‐freecontactfromthemainfuelvalvetotheseterminals.
Thedisplayisblankandthereisnobacklighton.
MeasurethepowersupplyvoltagesatthetestpointslabeledCOMMand+5vattherighthandsideof
themainPCB1732‐1.Itshouldbe5+/‐0.15v.
Turnoffthe power and remove themain shield. Checkthat the plug‐in fuse FS1has not blown. It
shouldonlybereplacedwitha1A,250vfuseifithasblown.
Isthemainspowerbeingsuppliedtoterminals36&37andisitbetween100and240VAC?Ifmaybe
necessarytoreplacetheswitchmodepowersupply,PS5,APC‐5S.
An‘ADCCalibrationFail’alarmhasoccurred.
Turnthetransmitteroffandremovethemainshield.Turnthetransmitterbackonandmeasurethe
voltages on the ‘Acom’ test points. With the negative lead on the centre terminal the other 2
terminalsshouldmeasure12+/‐0.3v.Ifnot,replacethesmallDC‐DCconverterPS4.
An‘Output1(2)Failure’alarmhasoccurred.
Turnthetransmitteroffandremovethemainshield.Turnthetransmitterbackonandmeasurethe
voltages on the ‘D1com’ test points. With the negative lead on the centr
e terminal the other 2
terminalsshouldmeasure12+/‐0.3v.Ifnot,replacethesmallDC‐DCconverterPS4.
A‘Heater1(2)Failure’alarmhasoccurred.
ThesoftwarehasfoundthattheSSR4hasfailed.Ifonlyoneprobeisbeingusedandyouneedtogets
thetransmitterbackworkingquickly,usetheCALIBRATIONmenufunction18,HeaterSSRSelect,to
changetheheateroutputterminals.Seechapter8.2.8,HeaterSSRfaultcorrection.
A‘BBRAMFail’alarmhasoccurred
ReplacetheBBRAM,MEM1onthe1732‐1mainPCB.
13.2DETAILEDFAULTANALYSIS
The 9060Z transmitter has a diagnostics mode built into the software. This mode allows detailed
analysisofthehardwareofthetransmitter,butdoesrequirealevelofcompetenceinelectronics.
Thediagnosticsmodeisselectablebyturningthe‘Diagnostics’DIPswitchtoONandthenturnonthe
power.ThereisaseparateDiagnosticsModeManualavailablethatde
