Adjusting Caster Headtubes
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 8.3.
NOTE:Casterheadtubesthatareperpendiculartothefloorwillrollbetter,trackstraighterand
minimizeanyʺ3‐wheelingʺofthewheelchair.
1. Makesurethewheelchairisonaflatsurface.
2. Loosen,butdonotremovethetopmountingscrewandlocknut,whichholdsthe
adjustmentcaminplace,andsecuresthecasterheadtubetotheheadtubemounting
plate.
3. PositionalargerighttriangleorʺLʺsquareontheflatsurfaceandagainstthecaster
headtube.
4. Movethecasterheadtubebackandforthuntilthecasterheadtubeisperpendicularto
theground/floor.
5. Whileholdingthecasterheadtubeperpendiculartotheground/floor,securelytighten
thetopmountingscrewsecuringtheadjustmentcaminplacetotheheadtube
mountingplate.
6. Makesurethecasterheadtubeisstillperpendiculartotheground/floorbyplacingthe
largerighttriangleorʺLʺsquareontheflatsurfaceandagainstthecasterheadtube.
7. Securelytightenthebottommountingscrewandlocknutthatsecurethecaster
headtubetotheheadtubemountingplate.
