SECTION 8—FRONT CASTERS

Replacing Front Fork

NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 8.2.

1. Remove thefrontcasterassembliesfromthewheelchair.RefertoReplacing/Installing

FrontCasterAssembliesonpage 58.

2. Remove thedustcover.

3. Remove thelocknutandnylonwasher .

4. Droptheexistingforkoutofthecasterheadtube.

5. Slidethenewforkintothecasterheadtube.

NOTE:Checkbearingassembliesandreplaceifnecessary.

6. Ensurethatforkslidescompletelyintothecasterheadtube.

ƽ WARNING

Improper positioning of the washer will prohibit the free movement of the forks and

may result in injury to the user.

7. Installnylonwasherandsecurewithlocknut.

8. Reinstallthefrontcasterassembliesontothewheelchair.RefertoReplacing/Installing

FrontCasterAssembliesonpage 58.

9. Toproperlytightencasterjournalsystemandguardagainstflutter,performthe

followingcheck:

A. Tipfrontofwheelchairofffloor.

B. Pivotforksandcasterstotopof

theirarcsimultaneously.

C. Letcastersdroptobottomofarc

(wheelsshouldswingonceto

one‐side,thenimmediatelyrestina

straight

downwardposition).

D. Adjustlocknutsaccordingto

freedomofcasterswing.

E. Testwheelchairfor

maneuverability.

10. Reinstalldustcover.
