To add a new word to the T9 dictionary:
Tap the
XT9 my words
field, then press
and tap
Add
.
Enter the new word in the
Register to XT9 my words
field,
then tap
Done
.

XT9 auto-substitution
to view the word list used for auto-
substitution (for example youve becomes you’ve). To add a
substitution to the list, press ,
tap
Add
, enter the
Shortcut word and Substitution word, and tap
Done
.
Voice Input and Output
Voice input allows the phone to recognize verbal input.
Text-to-speech allows the phone to provide a verbal readout of
on-screen text such as messages and incoming caller information
using a text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis engine.
1. From the Home screen, tap 

Voice recognition settings
to access the following
options:
Language
: allows you set the language you will be using for your
voice input and output.
SafeSearch
: allows you to filter explicit images when performing
voice searches. You can set to Off, Moderate, or Strict.
Block offensive words
: allows you to hide recognized offensive
words.

Text-to-speech settings
to access the following options:
Listen to an example
: plays a short example of what the text-to-
speech feature sounds like on your device when activated.
Driving mode
: allows incoming calls and new notifications to be
read out automatically.
Driving mode settings
: selects the applications that will use TTS
while driving mode is activated. Choose from: Incoming call,
Message, New emails, New voicemail, Alarm, Schedule, or
Unlock screen.
Always use my settings
: accepts an override of application
settings with personal configurations for this text-to-speech
settings screen. If enabled, your device defaults to using the text-
to-speech feature.
Default engine
: sets the speech synthesis engine that will be
used for the spoken text. Choices include:
Samsung TTS
and
Pico TTS
.
Install voice data
: allows the installation of necessary data
required for voice synthesis.
Speech rate
: adjusts the rate at which onscreen text is spoken by
the device. Choose from:
Very slow
,
Slow
,
Normal
,
Fast
, and
Very fast
.
Language
: assigns the language used for verbal readout. The
available selection depends on the chosen synthesis engine.
