11.14 Removing/Installing the Fork Assembly
Removing Fork Assembly
1. Remove the front caster from the fork. Refer to Removing Front Caster on page 79.
2. Perform one of the following:
• Standard Forks - Remove locknut securing the fork from the fork stem (Detail “A”).
• Suspension Fork (Detail “B”) -
a. Unscrew fork stem from head tube.
• One Sided Fork (Detail “C”) -
a. Unscrew fork stem from head tube.
Installing Fork Assembly
1. Perform one of the following:
• Standard Forks - Using a locknut, secure the fork to the fork stem (Detail “A”).
• Suspension Fork (Detail “B”) -
a. Apply Loctite 242 on stem threads.
b. Screw fork stem into head tube. Tighten securely.
• One Sided Fork (Detail “C”)
a. Apply Loctite 242 on stem threads.
b. Screw fork stem into head tube. Tighten securely.
If replacing a fork, note the mounting position of the existing front caster for installation of the new fork.

WARNING
Use Loctite™242 on threads fork stem when reinstalling the suspension fork or one sided fork into the head tube.
Otherwise, the fork may become loose and disengage from the headtube. Possible injury or damage could result.
