Safety Inspection Checklist
NOTE:Everysixmonths,takeyourTopEndXLTtoaqualifiedtechnicianforathorough
inspectionandservicing.Regularcleaningwillreveallooseorwornpartsandenhancethesmooth
operationofyourTopEndXLT.Forsafeandproperoperation,yourhandcycleMUSTbecaredfor
justlikeanyothervehicle.RoutinemaintenancewillextendthelifeandefficiencyofyourTopEnd
XLT.
NOTE:Invacarerecommendsthatthefollowingadjustmentsbeperformedbyaqualified
technician.Initialadjustmentsshouldbemadetosuityourpersonalbodystructureandpreference.
Thereafterfollowthesemaintenanceprocedures.
Inspect/Adjust Initially
Inspectforbentorbrokenframe.
Inspectparkingbrake‐Adjustbrakeshoestofrontrim.Checkforwornormissing
shoes.Checkforwaxoroilonrim.
Ensurecableanchorisattachedsecurelytobrakearm.
Ensureinternalstoppingbrakesengageseasily.
CAUTION
As with any vehicle, the wheels/casters and tires should be checked periodically for
cracks, flat spots and wear, and should be replaced.
Ensureaxlenutsaretight.Wheelshouldbecenteredinfork.Keepwheelbearings
adjustedandkeepspokestightandwheelinproperalignment.
Inspectrimandforkassemblyfordamage.
Ensureaxlenutandwheelmountingnutsaresecure.
Inspectwheelsforexcessivesidemovementorbindingwhen
liftedandspun.
Inspectforflatspots,wearandproperinflation.
Inspectchain/chainguardfordamage,rust,tensionandstretch.Adjustifnecessary.
Lubricateeachlink(3in1oil
®
oraqualitybikelubricant).Checkfordamageor
looseness.
Adjustshifter/brakecablesaccordingtoshifter/brake manufacturerʹsinstructions
(includedwiththehandcycle).
Inspectfrontfork.Keeptightandlubricate(Allpurposegrease).
Inspectfootrestmountinghardwareistightandfootrestsecure.
Inspectfootreststrapsforwetnessand/ordamage.
