Safety Inspection Checklist
NOTE:Everysixmonths,takeyourTopEndXLTtoaqualifiedtechnicianforathorough
inspectionandservicing.Regularcleaningwillreveallooseorwornpartsandenhancethesmooth
operationofyourTopEndXLT.Forsafeandproperoperation,yourhandcycleMUSTbecaredfor
justlikeanyothervehicle.RoutinemaintenancewillextendthelifeandefficiencyofyourTopEnd
XLT.
NOTE:Invacarerecommendsthatthefollowingadjustmentsbeperformedbyaqualified
technician.Initialadjustmentsshouldbemadetosuityourpersonalbodystructureandpreference.
Thereafterfollowthesemaintenanceprocedures.
Inspect/Adjust Initially
❑ Inspectforbentorbrokenframe.
❑ Inspectparkingbrake‐Adjustbrakeshoestofrontrim.Checkforwornormissing
shoes.Checkforwaxoroilonrim.
❑ Ensurecableanchorisattachedsecurelytobrakearm.
❑ Ensureinternalstoppingbrakesengageseasily.
CAUTION
As with any vehicle, the wheels/casters and tires should be checked periodically for
cracks, flat spots and wear, and should be replaced.
❑ Ensureaxlenutsaretight.Wheelshouldbecenteredinfork.Keepwheelbearings
adjustedandkeepspokestightandwheelinproperalignment.
❑ Inspectrimandforkassemblyfordamage.
❑ Ensureaxlenutandwheelmountingnutsaresecure.
❑ Inspectwheelsforexcessivesidemovementorbindingwhen
liftedandspun.
❑ Inspectforflatspots,wearandproperinflation.
❑ Inspectchain/chainguardfordamage,rust,tensionandstretch.Adjustifnecessary.
Lubricateeachlink(3‐in‐1oil
®
oraqualitybikelubricant).Checkfordamageor
looseness.
❑ Adjustshifter/brakecablesaccordingtoshifter/brake manufacturerʹsinstructions
(includedwiththehandcycle).
❑ Inspectfrontfork.Keeptightandlubricate(Allpurposegrease).
❑ Inspectfootrestmountinghardwareistightandfootrestsecure.
❑ Inspectfootreststrapsforwetnessand/ordamage.
