3.6.6 Creating Links
Note The layer details displayed in the link creation wizard are based on the NE selected as
source of the link. For example, when you attempt to create a link from NE A to NE B,
the link sizes displayed are based on the supported sizes and inventory of NE A. If the
link is attempted in the reverse direction, from NE B to NE A, the link sizes displayed
is based on the inventory and size support for NE B. As a result, the link sizes displayed
could differ when the operation is attempted differently. Error code EID-733 is
displayed in the link destination panel when the size displayed is not applicable for the
destination NE.

Note CTM allows creation of bidirectional SONET/SDH links as well as unidirectional and
bidirectional physical links.
If the layer rate is SONET/SDH or Layer 2, only bidirectional links are available. If the
layer rate is OTS, OMS, OCH, or Physical, both unidirectional and bidirectional links
are available.
