Transferring to a Standard Commode
NOTE:TheInvacarepatientliftisNOTatransportdevice.Ifthebathr oomfacilitiesarenotnearthebedorifthepatientliftcannotbe easily

1. Useanemptypatientlifttocheckifthepatientliftcanman euve raroundthec ommode .
2. Ifthe patientliftcanmaneuv eraroundtheco mmode, liftthepatientfromthebed.RefertoLiftingthe Patient
onpage 14.
3. Movethepatienttothecommode.
4. PresstheUP/DOWNbuttonsonthehan dcontrol to ele v atethe patient highenoughtoclearthecomm ode. Their weightwill
besupp orted bythepatientlift.
5. Guidethepatientontothecommode .Thismayrequiretwoassistants.
6. PresstheDOWN buttononthe
handcontroltolowerthepatientontothestandardco mmode leavingtheslingattachedto
theswivelbarhooks.
7. Whencomplete, rechecktheslingforco rrec tattachments.
8. PresstheUPbuttononthehandcont roltoraisethepatientoffthecommode.
9. Whenpatientisclearofthecommodesurface(usingthe
steeringhandle),mov etheliftaway fromthecommode.
10. Toreturnthepatientto bed,reversethestepsofLifting thePatient
on page 14.
11. Toreturnorplacepatienttoawheelchair,refe rtoTransferringtoaWheelchair
.
Transferring to a Wheelchair
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 5.2.
1. Liftthepatientfromthebed.RefertoLiftingthePatient
onpage 14.
2. Pressthelegsopenbuttonuntilthelegsareinthemaximumopenposition.
3. Movethewheelchairintoposition.
4. Engagethewheellocksofthewheelchair.
ƽ WARNING
The wheel locks MUST be engaged before lowering the patient into the wheelchair. Otherwise,
injury may result.
5. Usethestraps orhandlesonthesideandthebackofthe
slingto gui dethepatient’s hipsasfarbackaspossibleinto
theseatforproperpositioning.
6. P osition thepatientov e rthese atwiththeirbackagainst
thebackofthechair.
7. Beginto low erthepatientpressingthe
DOWNbuttonon
thehandcontrol.
8. Usetwoassistants ‐Oneassistantstandsbe hindthe chair
andtheotheroperatesthepatientli ft.Theassistantbehind
thechairpullsbackonthe grabhandle(onselect mo dels)
orsidesoftheslingtose atthepatient wellintothebackof
the
ch air.
NOTE:Thiswillmaintainagoodce nterofbalanceandpr eventthe
chairfr omtippingforward.
9. Leavetheslinginplaceunlessadividedlegslingwas
used.Remov eadividedlegsling.
10. ReverseLiftingthe Patient
onpage 14tore turnthepatient
totheseatingsurfaceofthewheel chair.
