ƽ WARNING
Battery terminal configuration as shown in Detail “A” of FIGURE 11.3 MUST be
used. Batteries that have the terminal configuration reversed MUST NOT be used -
otherwise serious injury or damage may occur.
Install protective caps on POSITIVE (+) and NEGATIVE (-) terminals.
All battery terminal covers (two on the front battery and two on the rear battery)
MUST be installed prior to use.
CAUTION
When connecting the battery cables to the battery, the battery cables MUST be
connected to the battery terminals, as shown in Detail “A” of FIGURE 11.3
(depending on battery type), otherwise damage to the battery cable may result
when installing battery terminal caps.

1. Securethebatterycablestothebatteryterminalsasdescribedbelow.Securelytighten.
RefertoDetail“A ”ofFIGURE 11.3:
A. SecureNEGATIVE(‐)batterycabletotheNEGATIVE(‐)batteryterminalusing
themountingscrewandthelocknut.
B. SecurethePOSITIVE(+)batterycabletothePOSITIVE(+)batteryterminalusing
theL‐bracketwithmountingscrewandthelocknut.
2. Verifyallbatterycablesarecorrectlyinstalledandsecurelytightened.
3. Slideterminalcapsdownbatterycablesandontobatteryterminals.
4. Secureeachterminalcapinplacewithatie‐wrap[usetie‐wraps11‐1/2‐incheslong]
(Detail“B”ofFIGURE 11.3).
5. Positionthebatteriesinto thewheelchair.RefertoRemoving/InstallingBatteriesfrom/
intoBatteryTrayonpage 61.
NOTE:NewbatteriesMUSTbefullychargedbeforeusing,otherwisethelifeofthebatterieswill
bereduced.
