Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Product Overview
Thank you for purchasing the NetComm NB600W Super-G Wireless Gateway. The NB600W
is a state-of-the-art Wireless Gateway with the latest in advanced broadband wireless connec-
tivity. Now it’s simple and cost-effective to build a local network with Internet access using
wired or wireless technology.
The NB600W features the latest 802.11g wireless standard for high speed transfer rates up to
54Mbps, as well as a Atheros’ Super G mode to turbocharge your transfer rates. The NB600W
is backwards compatible with 11Mbps, 802.11b wireless networks and carries a built-in 4 port
10/100 Base-TX Ethernet Switch.
The NB600W introduces three levels of security to keep those intruders and hackers out of
your wired or wireless network. The combination of NAT and SPI/DOS (Stateful Packet
Inspection/Denial of Service) firewall technology, the latest WEP (Wireless Encryption Proto-
cols) and WPA (WiFi Protection Access – PSK and Radius) ensures the safety of your network
PCs and their data.
Working with any Operating System that supports TCP/IP, including Windows, Apple Ma-
cintosh and Linux, the NB600W Web-based user interface facilitates easy set up and ongoing
administration.
This reference manual assumes that the reader has an installed Ethernet card in the computer
to be connected and has basic to intermediate computer and Internet skills. However, basic
Computer Networking, Internet, and Firewall technology information is available from the
