5 Wheelchair Operation
5.1 Personal Transporter Usage
WARNING!
After ANY adjustments, repair or service and before
use, make sure that all attaching hardware is tightened
securely - otherwise injury or damage may result.
Set-up/programming of the Electronic Control Unit
is to be performed only by a qualified technician.
The fine tuning adjustments of the controller may
affect other activities of the personal transporter.
Damage to the equipment could occur under these
circumstances. If unqualified individuals perform any
work on these units, the warranty is void.
The personal transporter shipsin two cartons. It is necessary
to install the seat onto the personal transporter base, install
the joystick and make any necessary adjustments to fit the
personal transporter to the user. Refer to 6.1 Preparing the
Personal Transporter for Use, page 32
.
Setup of the personal transporter should be performed by
dealer at time of delivery.
5.2 SPJ™+ Joystick Switches and Indicators
On/Off Button
The on/off button A is located at the front of the joystick housing. It
is used to turn the personal transporter on and off, to remove the
joystick from sleep mode (if programmed) and to lock or unlock the
joystick (if programmed).
Speedometer
The speedometer B is used to show the maximum speed. The
right-most LED indicates current maximum speed setting.
Speed Control Button
The speed control buttons C are located on the face of the joystick
housing. These buttons are used for controlling the speed and
acceleration of the personal transporter.
The speed control buttons [tortoise button ( ) and hare
button ( )] are used to set and adjust the maximum speed.
