SECTION 8—FRONT CASTERS

After any adjustments, repair or service and before use, make sure all attaching hardware is
tightened securely. Otherwise injury or damage may occur.
Removing/Installing Front Casters
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 8.1.
ƽ WARNING
When converting to different size casters, this procedure MUST be performed by a qualified
technician.
NOTE:Thisprocedurecanbeperformedifreplacingtheexact
samesizefrontcaster.
Removing
1. Removethemountingscrewthatsecuresthecasterto
thefork.
Installing
1. Securethecastertotheforkwithonemountingscrew.
Tightensecurely.

1. Loosentheangleadjustmentscrewsonthebottomoftheroundreceptacle.
2. Removethetwomountingscrewsthatsecurethecaster/fork/headtubeassemblytotheroundreceptacle(Detail“B”).
3. Removecaster/fork/headtubeassemblyfromtheroundreceptacle(Detail“D”).
Installing
1. Installfork/headtubeassemblyintotheroundreceptacle(Detail“B”).
2. Usingan“L”square,rotatethefork/headtubeassemblysothattheflatedgeof theforkis90°totheground/floor(Detail
“E”).
3. Tightentheangleadjustmentscrews(Detail“A”).
4. Securethefork/headtubeassemblytotheroundreceptaclewithtwomountingscrews(Detail
“B”).Tightensecurely.
5. Toproperlytightencasterjournalsystemandguardagainstflutter,performthefollowingcheck:
A. Tipbackofwheelchairtofloor.
B. Pivotbothforksandcasterstotopoftheirarcsimultaneously.
C. Letcastersdroptobottomofarc(wheelsshouldswingoncetooneside,thenIMMEDIATELYrestina
straight
downwardposition).
D. Removedustcoverandadjustlocknutsaccordingtofreedomofcasterswing.
