Battery
Certain features on the Paradigm pump use a lot of battery power.
Remote control
Backlight
Vibration alarm setting
If you use these features a lot, your battery will need to be replaced
more frequently.
If your batteries have been in a cold place, (i.e., your car in the
winter), allow the battery to warm to room temperature (up to 30
minutes) before inserting into the pump.
Installing a new pump battery
The Paradigm pump uses a AAA alkaline battery. As a safety mea-
sure, Medtronic MiniMed has designed the pump to only accept a
NEW battery. The pump is very particular, if you insert a used bat-
tery, an alarm will be triggered.
CAUTION: It is highly recommended that you use an AAA alkaline
Energizer battery. Do not use a carbon zinc battery in the
pump.
Do not remove the battery unless you are changing your
battery (installing a NEW battery). Replace it within one
(1) minute. If not replaced within one (1) minute, the
screen may display an alarm message. Follow the instruc-
tions in the message and make sure the time and date is
