Removing/Installing Batteries from/into Battery Tray
ƽ WARNING
ALWAYS use the battery handle when lifting the battery. It is the most convenient
method and assures that the battery acid will not spill. It also helps to prolong the
life of the battery.
DO NOT tip the batteries. Keep the batteries in an upright position.
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 9.2onpage 54.
NOTE:Ifthereisbatteryacidinthebottomofthebatterytrayoronthesidesofthebattery,apply
bakingsodatotheseareastoneutralizethebatteryacid.Beforereinstallingtheexistingornew
battery,cleanthebaking
sodafromthebatterytrayorbatterybeingsuretoavoidcontactwithskin
andeyes.Determinesourceofcontamination.NEVERinstall/reinstallabatterywithacrackedor
otherwisedamagedcase.
NOTE:Havethefollowingtoolsavailable:
Removing
1. Placethewheelchairinawellventilatedareawhereworkcanbeperformedwithout
riskingdamagetocarpetingorfloorcovering.
2. VerifythejoystickOn/OffswitchisintheOffpositionanddisconnectjoystickcable
(notshown).RefertoDisconnecting/ConnectingtheJoystickonpage 121.
3. Performoneofthefollowing:
•Tilttheseatassemblytotheupposition.RefertoTiltingtheSeatAssembly
(FormulaCGOnly)onpage 41.
•Removetheseatassemblyfromthewheelchair.RefertoRemoving/Installingthe
SeatAssemblyonpage 43.
4. Removethebatteryshroud.RefertoRemoving/InstallingtheBatteryShroudon
page 47.
5. Disconnectthefrontbatteryfromthecontroller(BLACKconnector).
6. Disconnecttherearbatteryfromthefrontbattery(REDandBLACKconnectors).
7. Liftrearandfrontbatteryoutofthebatterytrayusingthebatteryhandles.
Installing
1. VerifythejoystickOn/OffswitchisintheOffpositionanddisconnectjoystickcable.
RefertoDisconnecting/ConnectingtheJoystickonpage 121.
