NOTE:Everysixmonths,takeyourwheelchairtoaqualifiedtechnicianforathoroughinspection
andservicing.Regularcleaningwillreveallooseorwornpartsandenhancethesmoothoperation
ofyourwheelchair.Tooperateproperlyandsafely,yourwheelchairmustbecaredforjustlikeany
othervehicle.Routinemaintenancewillextendthelifeandefficiencyofyourwheelchair.Clean
upholsterywithmildsoapandwaterorspraydisinfectantusingasponge.DONOTusebleachor
washinawashingmachine.
Safety Inspection Checklist
Initialadjustmentsshouldbemadetosuityourpersonalbodystructureandpreference.
Thereafterfollowthesemaintenanceprocedures:
Inspect Initially
Ensurewheelchairrollsstraight(noexcessivedrag/pulltooneside).
EnsurewheellocksDONOTinterferewithtireswhenrolling.
Ensurepivotpointsarefreeofwearandlooseness.
Ensurewheellocksareeasytoengage.
Inspectseatandbackupholsteryforripsorsagging.
Inspectupholsteryfasteningflapstoensuretheysecurelylatch.
Inspectseatpositioningstrapforanysignsofwear.Ensurebucklelatches.Verify
hardwarethatattachesstraptoframeissecureandundamaged.Replaceifnecessary.
Ensurehandgrips(ifequipped)arenotloose.
Ensurequickreleaseaxlesandcamberinsertsareclean.
Ensureadjustable
axlepositioncamberbarissecurelytightened.
Ensurequick/quadreleaseaxleslockproperly.
Ensurenoexcessivesidemovementorbindingwhenliftedandspun.
Inspecthandrims forsignsofroughedgesorpeeling.
Inspectspokesforbentorbrokenspokes.
Ensurethatcastersarefreeofdebris.
Ensureallspokes
areuniformlytight.
Cleanupholsteryandarmrests.
CAUTION
As with any vehicle, the wheels and tires should be checked periodically for cracks
and wear, and should be replaced if damaged.
