Stability Assist
ƽ WARNING
If the wheelchair dips forward and the footplates touch the ground while the
wheelchair is in motion, please contact your dealer for an inspection and avoid use
of the wheelchair if possible. Otherwise the user could be injured.
While the wheelchair is moving, minimum ground clearance for the front rigging is
three inches. If the wheelchair is not moving, the front rigging MUST maintain a
minimum of one inch ground clearance - otherwise personal injury and damage may
result.
TheStabilityAssistfeatureisdesignedtoprovideasmoothrideoverobstaclesandto
resistleaningforwardwhendescendinganincline.StabilityAssistDOESNOTlockout
thefrontswingarmsandpreventthepowerwheelchairfromleaningforwardwhen
descendinganincline,butitdoesslowtheleaningprocessandalsosafelyreturnsthe
powerwheelchairtoitsrestingpositionwithsixwheelsonthegroundwhenthechair
comestoacompletestop.WhileStabilityAssistwillallowthepowerwheelchairtolean
forward,itdoespreventthepowerwheelchairfromtippingforward.
Coping with Everyday Obstacles
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 3.1onpage 21.
Copingwiththeirritationofeverydayobstaclescanbesomewhatalleviatedbylearning
howtomanageyourwheelchair.Keepinmindyourcenterofgravitytomaintainstability
andbalance.
Whilethewalkingbeamallowsyoutotraverseuptoa3inchbumporthreshold,
stoppingafterthewheelscrossthebumpposesaproblem.Thewheelchaircannotreverse
overthebumpatthispoint.Continueforwardandthenturnaround.
Whilethewheelchairisdesignedforuseprimarilyinandaroundthehome,theprovider
shoulddeterminewhetherthiswheelchairissuitable
fortheactualenvironmentinwhich
thewheelchairwillbeused.
NOTE:DONOTgodownaramp atfullspeed.
Someseat/backpositionswillcausethe
wheelchairtofeelunstable.
CAUTION
Be aware of the condition of the ramp.
Traction will be diminished/nonexistent
on a slippery surface. Proceed with
caution.
