Cleaning
Dust and dirt will affect the quality of your results.
̈ Put a dust cover over the instrument
during breaks in work.
̈ Use dust caps to protect
tube openings, tubes without
eyepieces, and eyepieces.
̈ Remove dust with a pneumatic
rubber bulb or with a soft brush.
̈ Clean objectives and eyepieces
with special optic cleaning
cloths and with pure alcohol.
̈ When accessories are not being
used, protect them against dust.
Some components are made of polymer, or are polymer-coated.
They are, therefore, pleasant and convenient to handle. The use
of unsuitable cleaning agents and techniques can damage
polymers, so always observe the following rules:
Never clean them in an ultrasonic bath. The polymer can
become brittle and later break.
Never use corrosive cleaning agents or ones containing
acetone.
Never use solvents for cleaning (except for ethanol and
isopropanol).
With warm soapy water, wiping down afterwards
with distilled water.
With ethanol (industrial alcohol) and isopropanol.
When cleaning with ethanol or isopropanol, adhere
to the appropriate safety regulations.
