This chapter describes connecting the Dell PowerVault 2xxS storage systems to the
host computer for three types of operations:
W
Single-bus backplane operation with one cable attached
W
Dual-bus split backplane operation with two cables attached
W
Cluster operation with two cables attached
For the single-bus backplane and dual-bus split backplane operations, be sure you
have set up your storage system as described in Chapter 2, "Installing Your Rack-
Mounted Storage System," or Chapter 3, "Installing Your Stand-Alone Storage
System."
For the cluster operation, see the following information:
W
For configuration information, see Chapter 4, "Configuring Your ESEM or SEMM
for Cluster Operation."
W
For information on cabling the PowerVault 2xxS storage system for cluster
operation, see the Dell PowerEdge cluster installation and troubleshooting
documentation.
NOTE: When you configure the ESEMs or SEMMs using the forced joined mode
for cluster operation, the storage system cannot operate in a dual-bus split back-
plane (2 x 4 or 2 x 6) configuration when two cables are attached.
