All PowerVault 2xxS storage systems offer the following features. Features for spe-
cific PowerVault 2xxS storage systems are listed after the common features.
Hot-pluggable drives if an optional or Dell PowerEdge™ Expandable RAID Control-
ler (PERC) 2, Dell PERC 2/DC, Dell PERC 2/SC, or Dell PERC 3/DI host adapter card
is installed in the host computer. (Other host adapters may also be qualified by Dell
to support hot-pluggable drives in the storage system.)
Multiple storage systems that can be connected to a Dell PowerEdge 8450,
6350, 6300, 4400, 4350, 4300, 2450, 2400, 2300, or 1300 computer system
using the following host adapter cards:
— Dell PERC 2
— Dell PERC 2/SC
— Dell PERC 2/DC
— Dell PERC 3/DI
— Adaptec AHA-2940U2W Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI)
Hot-pluggable power supply with an optional redundant second power supply.
Two hot-pluggable cooling fan modules with an optional redundant third cooling
fan module.
Enclosure management circuitry that monitors critical voltages and temperatures
as well as operation of the cooling fans. The enclosure management circuitry
works in conjunction with the HP OpenView Network Node Manager Special Edi-
tion (NNM SE) x.x and the Dell OpenManage™ Hardware Instrumentation
Package (HIP) x.x server management program installed on the host computer.
Small computer system interface (SCSI) management support for communicat-
ing SCSI hard-disk drive status, activity, and failure information through the SCSI
