1. PositionACpowercordandDCchargingcordstoreducerisk
ofdamagebyhood,door,ormovingengineparts.
2. Stayclearoffanblades,belts,pulleys,andotherpartsthat
cancauseinjury.
3. Checkpolarityofbatteryposts.Batterycasewillbemarked
by each post: POSITIVE (POS, P, +) and NEGATIVE (NEG,
N, -). NOTE: The positive battery post usually has a larger
diameterthanthenegativepost.
4. Determinewhichpostofbatteryisground(connected)to
chassis.
NOTE: Thenegativepostisnormallygrounded.

gaugemetalpartoftheframeorengineblock.

postofbattery.ConnectPOSITIVE(RED)cliptovehiclechassis
orengineblockawayfrombattery.Connecttoaheavygauge
unpaintedmetalpartoftheframeorengineblock.
WARNING: Do not connect clip to carburetor, fuel lines, or sheet-
metalbodyparts.NOTE: Attach clips to battery post and twist
orrockbackandforthseveraltimestomakeagoodconnection.
Thistendstokeepclipsfromslippingoffterminalsandhelpsto
reduce risk of sparking.
6. Selectamperage.
7. Followsteps1-4inBatteryChargerSectionK.
8. Whenthebatteryisfullycharged,unplugthechargerfrom
theACpowersource.
9. Removechargerclipsfrom(1)chassisand(2)batterypole
in that order.
10. Cleanandstorebatterycharger.

batterycabletoNEGATIVE(NEG,N,-)batterypost.

automotivestores.)
The24"leadprovidesasaferconnectioncondition.Sparking
or arcing could occur when connecting the charger clip to
the lead.
3. ConnectPOSITIVE(RED)chargercliptoPOSITIVE(POS,
P,+)postofbattery.Rockclipbackandforthtomakegood
connection.
4. Position yourself and free end of 24 inch cable as far away
frombatteryaspossible.ThenconnectNEGATIVE(BLACK)
charger clip to free end of cable.
WARNING: Do not face battery whenmaking final
connection.Rockclip backandforthtomakeagood
connection.
5. Selectamperage:
6. Followsteps1-4inBatteryChargerSection.
7. Whenbatteryisfullycharged,unplugchargerfromAC
outlet.
8. When battery is fully charged and the charger is
unplugged:
(1)RemoveclipfromendoftheNegativeendofcable,
then
(2)RemoveclipfromPositivebatterypost,inthatorder.
9. Cleanandstorebatterycharger.
WARNING: Be sure area around the battery is well ventilated
while battery is being charged. Gas can be forcefully blown
awaybyusingapieceofcardboardorothernon-metallic
materialasafan.
