Using the Suction Unit
CAUTION
Should fluid be aspirated back into the unit, send your suction unit to an
authorized service center for a detailed inspection as the vacuum pump may
have been damaged.
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 1andFIGURE 2onpage5.
NOTE:Iftheunitsustainsaseveredrop,validityofthegaugemustbechecked.Inspectif
thefloatshutoffisstillfunctioningproperlywhentheliquidinthecollectionbottle reaches
thesafefulllevel.
NOTE:Alwaystransportunitwithvacuumadjustknobrotatedfullyclockwiseincase
unitisdropped.
1. Ensurethesuctiontubingisconnectedtothelabeledpatientconnector(outlet)
onthecollectionbottle.
2. Ensurethatallconnectionsaresecureandwithoutleaks.
3. Connecttheunittopower.
4. TurnthepowerswitchOn(I).
5. Adjustthevacuumlevel
from0to560mmHgbyturningthevacuumadjust
knob:
•Clockwisetoincreasevacuum.
•Counterclockwisetodecreasevacuum.
NOTE:Refertothevacuumgaugewhilesettingthedesiredlevelofvacuum.Toaccurately
readthegauge,blockthepatientendofthehoseorcapoffthecollectionbottleandallowthe
gaugetoreachastablevacuumreading.
