IRThermometersmeasureanobject’ssurfacetemperature.Thethermometer’sopticssenseanobject’semitted,
reflected,andtransmittedenergy.
TheTG165translatesthesensedinformation(approximatelyframedbytheLasersandfurthertargetedbythe
Crosshairs)intoatemperaturereadingthatisdisplayedintextontheupperleftcornerofthe
display.Ifthe
thermometermeasurementexceedsthepublishedtemperaturerange,thedisplayshowsOL.
TheamountofIRenergyemittedbyanobjectisproportionaltoanobject'stemperatureanditsabilitytoemit
energy.Thisabilityisknownasemissivityandisbasedonthematerialoftheobject
anditssurfacefinish.
Emissivityvaluesrangefrom0.1foraveryreflectiveobjectto1.00foraflatblackfinish.
TheTG165hasbothadjustableandpresetemissivitysettings.Therearefour(4)presetsandanadjustable
