Automatic Speech Recognition
(ASR)
You can use your device’s built-in automatic speech
recognition (ASR) software, called
Voice Control, to dial
a phone number in your Contacts or to launch phone
functions. All you have to do is to talk into the phone,
and ASR will recognize your voice and complete tasks
by itself.
Activating ASR
1. Press and hold , you will then hear a prompt.

The screen displays “Say a command” and the phone
prompts you to say the name of the command you
want to use. To complete your task, simply follow the
voice prompts or touch an onscreen option.
Available ASR commands include:
Call <Name or #> to call an entry in your Contacts
list or a spoken phone number. (See “Making a
Voice Call With ASR” on page 85.)
Send Text <Name or #> to send a new text message
to an entry in your Contacts list or a spoken phone
number (page 87.)
Send Picture <Name or #> to send a new picture
message to an entry in your Contacts list or a spoken
phone number (page 87.)
Important: The Voice Control (Speech to Action) feature will
not launch if you are currently in an active menu.
