7-6 Troubleshooting
Novell NetWare (non-NDPS) Checklists
File Server Checklist
1. Is the file server up and running?
If not, bring the file server up. See your network software
documentation for more information.
2. Are you logged into the file server that you want the 170X to service?
Verify that you have selected the correct file server; type WHOAMI
at a DOS prompt.
Server-to-Printer Connection Checklist
1. Are any of the queues to be served by that printer disabled?
Enable or eliminate queues and try printing again.
2. Is the data being sent to the printer?
Verify the print queue is not on hold and that the correct print
server is the only one servicing the queue. Use PCONSOLE (see
the NetWare documentation) to verify the configuration.
3. Is there an “INITIALIZING” message on the 170X configuration
page?
Wait several minutes and print another configuration page. If the
message persists, make sure any file servers, bridges, or routers on
your network are operating correctly and make sure the network
is correctly wired. If the message persists, there may be an
unsupported frame type on your network.
