NOTE: If three additional limit switches are installed, the Potentiometer and/or Position Re-Transmit options will
not have a terminal connection on the motherboard. In this case, the user must wire directly to the three position
header at the end of the option leads.
2.1.4 BRAKE OPTION (ORDER CODE "K")
Because of Valvcon's efficient spur gear design, the brake option is required for all actuators installed on
dampers, butterfly valves and other resilient seated valves. The brake will prevent back-driving (back-driving
causes actuator "hunting" and motor burn-out).
The brake is wired directly into the motor drive circuit and requires no additional wiring.
2.1.5 ADDITIONAL LIMIT SWITCHES OPTIONS (ORDER CODES "S1", "S2", AND "S3")
Additional limit switches provide dry contacts which may be used for position indication, or to activate other
devices, such as pumps, when the actuator achieves certain positions. They may be set at any point within the
actuator's range of travel. One ("S1"), two ("S2") or three ("S3") additional limit switches may be installed in any V
Series actuator. The switches are rated for 5 amps at 230VAC.
For "S1", the additional limit switch will be factory set at the full clockwise position.
For "S2", the first additional limit switch will be factory set at the full clockwise position, and the second will be set
at full counter-clockwise.
For "S3", the first additional limit switch will be factory set at the full clockwise position, the second will be set at
full counter-clockwise, and the third will be set at full clockwise.
NOTE: If three additional limit switches are installed, the Potentiometer and/or Position Re-Transmit options will
not have a terminal connection on the motherboard. In this case, the user must wire directly to the three position
header at the end of the option leads.
2.1.6 DUAL CONDUIT OPENING OPTION (ORDER CODE "O")
PLEASE NOTE: This option is now standard, there is no need to add order code "O" to the description when
ordering.
2.1.7 POSITION INDICATOR OPTION (ORDER CODE "F")
The position indicator provides a visual indication (a dial indicator on the top of the housing) of the position of the
actuators output drive. It is factory installed only. PLEASE NOTE: This option is now standard, there is no need
to add order code "F" to the description when ordering.
2.1.8 HANDWHEEL OPTION (ORDER CODE "Z")
All Valvcon V Series actuators are equipped with a wrench-operated override shaft. As an option, the handwheel
eliminates the need for a wrench -- it can be operated by hand. It is de-clutchable; so it does not rotate during
normal operation (the standard override shaft does rotate during normal operation and is thus unsuitable for a
handwheel).
