Switch Licensing
Switch software licensing enables advanced features in certain ProCurve
switches. The following table shows the software licenses available for the
switches covered by this manual.

General Procedure
The general procedure for installing a software license involves several
different numbers:
■ registration ID — This number comes with the license you purchase, and
represents your right to install the particular type of license on a particular
type of switch.
■ hardware ID — This number is provided by the switch that you are
licensing, and includes the switch’s serial number and an identifier for the
feature that you are licensing.
■ license key — This number is generated by the My ProCurve portal, based
on the registration ID and the hardware ID that you provide. When you
install this number into the switch, it enables the feature that you are
licensing.
