The Paper Out and Pause lights are on and the printer beeps
three times.
Cause What to do
No paper is loaded. Load paper in the printer.
The printer sounds like it is printing, but nothing is printed.
Cause What to do
The ribbon cartridge may
not be installed properly
or the ribbon may be worn
out.
See “Replacing the Ribbon Cartridge” on
page 105.
The printer makes a strange noise, beeps five times, and stops
printing abruptly.
Cause What to do
The paper or ribbon may
be jammed.
Turn off the printer and check for a paper
jam or a ribbon jam.
The printer may have
overheated.
Let the printer cool. Then try to print
again. If it still does not print correctly,
see “Where To Get Help” on page 96.
The printer beeps five times and all the lights flash.
Cause What to do
An error has occurred. Turn off the printer and turn it on again.
If the problem persists, check for a paper
jam or ribbon jam. (If an error occurs
when you switch between single sheets
and continuous paper, make sure the
paper release lever is set correctly.)
