Althoughitisnotnecessarytodisconnecttheinverterwhenturningovertheengine,itmaymomentarilyceaseto

batteryvoltagedecreases.Whentheinverterisnotsupplyingpower,itdrawsverylowamperage
fromthebatteryandmaybeleftconnectedtothebatteryforuptothreehours.However,werecommendthe
inverteralwaysbedisconnectedwhennotinuse.
InverterProtectionFeatures
TheREDLEDIndicatorlightwillturnonandthe inverterwillturnitselfoffautomaticallywhen:
1. Thepowerinputfromthebatterydropsto9.5volts.(Whenthepowerinputdropsto10.5volts,analarmwill
soundforanextendedperiod).
2. Thepowerinputfromthebatteryexceeds
15.5volts.
3. Thecontinuousdrawoftheequipmentorappliancebeingoperatedexceeds1500watts.
4. Thesurgedrawoftheequipmentorappliancebeingoperatedexceeds3000watts.
5. Thecircuittempera tureexceeds165°F.
Note
Theinverterisequippedwithacoolingfanwhichisdesignedtoruncontinuouslywhiletheinverteris
operating.Automaticshutdowncausedbyhighcircuittemperatureswilloccurwhenthecoolingfanis
unabletomaintainacoolenoughtemperatureforsafeoperationoftheinverter.
Inthe
eventofautomaticshutdownorcontinuousaudiblealarm,turntheinverterrockerswitchtothe
OFF(0)positionuntilthesourceoftheproblemhasbeendeterminedandresolved.
HowPowerInvertersWork
There are two stages in which a power inverter changes the 12volt DC (or battery) power into 110V AC
(householdcurrent).
STAGE1:
TheinverterusesaDCtoDCconvertertoincreasetheDCinputvoltagefromthepowersourceto145voltsDC.
STAGE2:
Theinverter
thenconvertsthehighvoltageDCinto110VAC(householdcurrent),usingadvancedMOSFET(Metal
oxideSemiconductorFieldEffectTransistor)transistorsinafullbridgeconfiguration.Thisdesignprovidesallour
inverters withthecapabilitytostartandrundifficultreactiveloads,whileprovidingexcellentoverloadcapability.
