Make sure that all the pins on each chip are straight. The pins
should point inward at slightly less than a 90° angle as shown
below.
If any of the pins are bent, straighten them by gently pushing
them back into alignment with the other pins.

Align the pins with the holes in the socket. Be sure that the small
notch on the end of the chip is facing in the direction shown
below.
5.
Gently press the chip halfway into the socket. If the chip goes in
at an angle, remove it with a chip puller or a small flat-head
screwdriver and reinsert the chip.
