Troubleshooting
We do not expect you to have any problems with your thermometer; but, if you do, the following suggestions might help.
Problem Suggestion
The display is blank after pressing the Power button. Be sure the batteries are inserted properly.
You cannot get the measurement or an abnormal tempera-
ture appears in the display.
Be sure the tip of the probe is clean and has no damage.
Clean any excessive wax that may be clogged in your ear.
Then insert the probe again. See Step 2.
The ear thermometer does not work after pressing the but-
ton.
Be sure to start the thermometer after the
appears.
To obtain a precise temperature measurement, first clean your ear of
all excessive earwax.
Your temperature may differ for each ear. To get an accurate reading,
always take your temperature in the same ear.
Take your temperature when you relax, and never take your tempera-
ture after exercise or a bath. Rest at least 20 minutes afterward.
Do not use the thermometer if you suffer from ear diseases, or your
ear canal is wet.
Keep portable phones away from the thermometer to prevent malfunc-
tion.
If you have hair in your ear, the measured temperature may be lower
than your actual temperature.
If the following conditions occur, we recommend you take your temper-
ature at least three times and use the highest reading.
Infants under three months old.
Children under three years old who have a compromised
immune system.
This is your first time using the thermometer. Practice until you
get accurate and consistent readings.
Use only fresh batteries of the required size
and recommended type. RadioShack alka-
line batteries can be purchased at your local
RadioShack store.
Do not mix old and new batteries, different
types of batteries (alkaline, standard, or
rechargeable), or rechargeable batteries of
different capacities.
Dispose of old batteries promptly and prop-
erly. Do not burn or bury them.
If you do not plan to use your thermometer
for a month or more, remove the batteries.
Batteries can leak chemicals that may
destroy electronic parts.
When the display dims or battery weakens,
the appears on the display. Replace the
batteries.
