5 This thermometer will only register to -4 degrees, if it's below that, the "LL.L" reading displays. I just found that out myself. Kind of useless in Wisconsin.

5 I contacted the manufacturer and following is their response: Regular alkali batteries will operate outdoors to about 25 degrees F. Below this they get too cold to generate enough power to broadcast the signal. Lithium batteries will operate to about -4 degrees F. If the temperature is colder than this, the display will show LL.L until the temperature rise above -4. Hope this information proves to be helpful to you. Living in Michigan, this isn't exactly helpful, but at least it verifies the status of the unit.

0 If you have changed batteries and get the LL or HH reading just push the Channel button. I found this happens occasionally. Also if it very cold outside you could reach the Lower Limit (LL) and it will not read. I found that in IL last winter at about -4 F. I just uploaded the manual as well. Enjoy.
