How do I open the case of Reli-On thermometer #144-736-000 to chsnge the battery?

5 For lack of a manual or instructions, I experimented. What worked was turning it over so the button side is down, placing my thumbnail in the narrow crack between the colored cover and the white plastic, and exerting pressure in the direction of the end of the handle. The colored plastic cover should slide off, revealing the battery. The battery and circuit board seem designed to slide out freely 1/2". Assuming you hope to replace the battery, the translucent battery retainer is held in by two posts. Just lift it off to replace the LR41 button battery.
