4 There are several very small philips screws to remove from the back, then from the circuit board. Carefully pull back the circuit board without disterbing the wires. The battery is soldered in place. Use a small soldering iron to remove the two terminals. You can buy a battery holder and install it in place of the soldered in battery. From then on simply insert a new battery. The battery is a CR2032 the holder is a BH-2032-CH25LF. Both available from www.microbattery.com

4 What kind of idiot company would solder in a battery? Apparently Conair is. No more sales of anything Conair to this family.

0 The battery is not soldered in. Turn the scale over. There is a switch to change the scale reading from Lbs to Kg. The switch is in an irregular shaped insert held in by glue. Slip a thin blade under the edge of the insert and work your way around until it comes loose. Remove it and you will see a round black plastic battery retainer held in place by 3 screws. Remove the screws and lift the retainer. It will not come all the way off but will allow you to R&R the battery. Put it back together a little glue to hold the insert back in place.  Took me 5 minutes.
