does this unit need 2 AA regular batteries plus 2 ...

does this unit need 2 AA regular batteries plus 2 AA Lithium batteries for a sensor and where would the 2 Lithium sensor batteries go? I have replaced the 2 regular AA batteries but am not getting an outdoor reading.
