I think you should recheck the date on your strips, it might be expired, and that will be the reason of this error. Abbot diabetes care products are excellent, I have been using their Freestyle Optium Meter and test strips present at http://www.ilexmedical.com/products.php?id=43 from long time.

No problems yet!! Even the Precision Xtra Blood Glucose Meter is well-known for its versatility, as it allows users to test blood glucose and ketone levels both.
